Revd. Stephen Normanton

Having been born and brought up in Huddersfield it is good to be serving in a Yorkshire Circuit again. The Settle Circuit sits pretty much half way between my first two Circuits, Penrith and South Craven, and so it feels as though we are on very familiar ground. The people of this Circuit are good folk and my early impressions are that our churches are founded on deep faith and much prayer. This is a Circuit that has a strong sense of vision and many committed hearts to join the mission task of sharing God's love in the local communities.

I have an increasing interest in art. I am definitely not an artist but I am learning to appreciate the artistic skills of others in a variety of media. One of my favourite places in recent years has been the Tate Modern gallery. The capacity of humans to express concepts in so many ways other than words is surely a gift of God.

Although I am not an eco-warrior or a member of the Green Party I do nevertheless recognise the need to adopt eco-friendly lifestyle practices. I think that as Christians we should guard against becoming eco-righteous, I am definitely an eco-sinner when it comes to the miles I travel, but nevertheless we should choose the green option whenever we can. I am currently quite excited at the prospect of this Circuit designing and building the first fully eco-manse!
