Our Circuit Policy
Whilst building on tradition, we are exploring new ways of expressing God's mission to the world through worship, learning, life and ministry, evangelism and service.
WORSHIP
Our worshipping life aims to be
-
vibrant
-
filled with a real sense of God's presence
-
varied in style
-
accessible to all ages and abilities
-
participatory
-
life-enriching
LEARNING
The Circuit aims to
-
encourage everyone to participate in Christian fellowship through small groups, in addition to Sunday worship
-
develop a greater understanding of the world church
-
offer training for membership
-
provide training for church office holders, local preachers and worship leaders
LIFE AND MINISTRY
The Circuit's ministry aims to
-
encourage the flexible use of ordained ministers across the circuit
-
work through a vibrant leadership team
-
recognise and use the people's spiritual gifts
-
provide appropriate pastoral care and support for all
-
challenge congregations to step out with God in faith
EVANGELISM
Working with other churches, where appropriate, the Circuit seeks to make more disciples of Jesus Christ by
-
consistent Biblical teaching
-
supporting outreach to all age groups
-
developing evangelistic initiatives
-
equipping people to share their faith
SERVICE
The Church, as an organisation, exists for the benefit of those who do not belong. The Circuit seeks to
-
be more aware of the communities in which we are placed
-
recognise the equality of all people
-
engage with issues of injustice, fair trade and the environment
-
encourage and celebrate members' involvement in local voluntary organisations
Recognising the challenges of our rural environment, we would welcome the opportunities that are presented by our buildings for future community development.
All these things are to be underpinned by the prayer, worship and fellowship of the people of the Settle Methodist Circuit.
